August is here and I am throwing a wee fundraiser gathering in Duluth!
Who: Me, Anna, and perhaps Ashley the Iditarod finishing sled dog
What: Fundraiser gathering and all around hang out night on the beach where Anna and I will share our stories of mushing and racing in Alaska
When: August 29th 5-8pm
Where: Park Point Beach House (4750 Minnesota Ave)
Why: The total cost of a dogsled season when preparing for Iditarod is about $50,000. This seems like a lot, but everything adds up. For example $2.50 for a bootie is easy cheese, but 4 booties for 16 dogs for 1000 miles comes out to be $3,200 for all of Iditarod (not to mention all of the races and training runs before!) I would love your help to reach my goal! So for folks have helped me raise a little over $12,000!
Love Creamery (our best ice cream shop) and Northern Waters Smokhaus (best sandwhiches and smoked fish in Duluth) have graciously said yes to donating food for the night. We will have beverages and such as well!
There will be a small silent auction! The brands that we use all winter long have donated some really amazing products for folks to bid on! A weekend stay at the Aldo Tiny home in Wisconsin, sauna sessions with Cedar and Stone, fleece mitts from Ely Mitten Project, and more! I feel super lucky that all of these awesome folks are hopping on board for the night.
The Beach House is right on Lake Superior so I am hoping for brilliant weather for swimming, paddling and beach games!
